I really enjoy what you've done to the GK. The rest of the patch looked really nice as well. Passing was fine, scoring seemed to be ok (only did a couple of tests against low-level teams as it was pre-season when I tested it). However there was a single bug that made it impossible for me to use your patch. The ball would fall somewhere before my defensive midfielders and the game was over, nobody moved. I'll give you a sample:

where x is the ball. All of the players just stood there, watching the sky, maybe moving on the spot (changing directions).
Do you have any idea on how to fix that? Right now I'm playing with a stripped down version of your patch (kept GK, or whatever I think should be the changed GK-settings, camera and the energy reduction) but I'd really like to use the complete patch. The game just looked so much smarter. Maybe you could fix that and release a bugfix version? That wouldn't count as one of your three releases, it's just a patched patch or a patch for the patch. wink.gif

BTW: Last game I played without your patch (but with mine that only has the much better goalie) ended 8-0 for me so maybe there is only so much you can do about that kind of scores.
I think the games end high has a lot to do with the opponent being a lot stronger for the last couple of minutes. They usually have 5 or 6 players in my part of the field so counters are really effective for me in that part of the game (and obviously they're bound to score eventually).

Anyway, I really hope you can fix this problem.

Yeah, I like the goalies.
Maybe the high scoreline is my formation. I don't know.

I play this game from start when it was TCM,and I am a big fan of it.

So this years version is a must and like in previous posts you must spent time playing it an not just play only a match.

Tactics,training,.... everything ahs to be done.

3d version is better this year,and I hope you can make it perfect.
Last year you did it,why not this year.

Head up m8, you can do it....I know you can.
And I will test every version you bring out on the net.

Thnx, i know i made some mistakes with v2, i'll release first beta to see v3 development when i find it well balanced..i focused only on scoreline, with defence and goalie tweaks..i'll try to keep it simple, now i import all original values before starting to make adjustments in each segment, becouse as you said it default gameplay really does have more potential then previous versions. Actually, with all those hard-coded changes, it gives us less options to edit it to the best, less control on our own preferences.

yeah i agree that the player running back with the ball is a problem but i just wonder sometimes if it's because of tactics of the other side

i dont see this very often but others say it happens all the time. i dont put my outside midfield on attacking at any time. always normal, it doesn't mean that they dont go forward. i usually try on make my formation fit the gaps on the other team and it works wonders

if the opp have 4 backs i have 3 forwards postioned in the gaps x x x x
0 0 0


if they have 3 backs i have 2 x x x
0 0



if they have 3 mid field i have 4 and so on you get the picture x x x
0 0 0 0


the only time i see players get shut down and run backwards is when i have a 4 on 4 or 3 on 3 senario
when the player gets stopped in his tracks and no passing option he turns around. i understand that this is probably a bug but i'm just saying that sometimes the tactics do work.

Like latfolias patch, i saw a heap of people put it down because they say most games end up 0-0. I love it, that means you just have to work harder for the win, fine tune your tactics, work with your players, having your midfield keep banging in long shots from outside the box and winning 3-0 is not realism in my book.


the other thing that i wonder about is i have never touched the database. i know lat and smb are always putting in codes for people to change / tweak things. Is to much fiddling causing some of the problems. because dead set i might see some of the things people complain about once a season but they say it happens all the time.

I also only change to the patch gameplay when i'm a good few years into the game. this might also be one of the reasons why i dont see most of the problems. My team have had time to adjust to other teammates and my tactic as such and play a much smoother game. I assume if i download the patch, start a new game buy a heap of new players and start a season then they probably will be all over the place. ???????
I dont think you can get a good idea of how the patch works from day one, i still think that there are other factors that most people dont take into account

I feel guilty that i seem to have a game that i can play, while everyone else is seeing red over it.

Let's just hope that with next bf's update which will once again have hard-coded changes in 3D more people will be satisfied with default gameplay..it would be ideal if we wouldn't need gameplay patch at all, maybe just to tune camera wiew and speed of match rolleyes.gif We'll see how that will turn out, i still don't see any release date rumours about update2

Hi Smb,

Have played a full season again with v2, still getting a high goals per game ratio, most common scoreline being 4-3.
Could be my tactics as I play a very attacking game, working on the principle of I'll score 1 more than the opposition.
Had to abandon 3 matches due to no players moving when ball goes loose.
The most improved part of this patch is the goalkeeper behaviour, much more aggressive and lifelike.
As I have read, you are aware of the problems with v2 so I won't list them again as they have all been covered by earlier posts.
Just to say keep up the good work and I am sure you can get your patch as good as last years if hard coding will allow.

Have read on a german site that BF have no plans at present for a 2nd update until after the January transfer window and then it may only be a database update.

Just read on here comments from Gerald, they are messing with the 3d again in update 2, you never know they might get it right this time lol

Ok SMB this is the best way for me to give you some real stats


score 3-2 1-2 0-1

hope you can read these.

The first column ..... me liverpool rating 853 leading comp against sunderland rating 810 2nd last on table custom tactics (my real game) 28 games into season

2nd column again same team, ratings placings but me using std 442 formation

3rd column same teams but started new game and this was the first game of the season (using custom tactics

as you can see the 2 games away from my tactics that i have been training with resulted in losses both games i had 10% more possession. the new game shows what i had been saying earlier a lot more offsides, free kicks, corners,
fouls and shots because the team had not trained together nor played together and not indiv trained on the critical aspects of my tactics. the second game shows that when i played my team out of their normal positions they were all over the place. These 2 games

There is a big difference between the old game ( 2 seasons in and watching every game) and the new one
this is why i dont reckon you can just load the game and play a few games and say things dont work. Like the hit the post thing because my strikers have been training on finishing, shot power and the like they hit the target more often not spray them from everywhere and not take so many long shots because of dribbling training to get closer.

I also tried a game where similar to the first column but put in my lowest rated team 762 to sunderlands 810 this was a tight game also, very few corners fouls throws and f/kicks won this game 3-1 so as you can see not outrageous 7-0 or 5-4 games to be seen


I hope this gives you, latfolia and the rest of the patchers some insight into where the game goes down the track.

P.S i did try a CAC , simulated 10 years then went in and set up a club, simulated the first year got promoted and then watched the first game of 2nd season..... and boy was that ugly....... beaten 7-0 , 16 fouls. 11 offsides, 7 corners , missed 2 penalties that hit the post and lost the rest of the game due to the ball coming to a standstill between players. again i think this is because my players weren't up to it as i have not seen the ball standstill in anuy of my liverpool games.

Obviously there will be some more hard-coded changes in default gameplay in this update, so that means we'll once again have to remake patches to be operative with it..i didn't expect it to be that soon, so i'll try to wrap up development of v3 patch for update1 on time, and use it as a base for v4 which will be for update2 strictly..i just have to check for shooting angle more, as i saw too many shots on target overall, and if it will look ok i will put up first beta for testing.

Tried the Drink tea patch last night...it was good for higher through balls over the full backs.
(Most passes in default seem to be on the floor and to feet...this is unrealistic.)
Just a thought.

Yep, thought about it also, so i have increased value for crosses, now there are quite a few deep cross attempts..it looks more natural, but i'm a fan of ground-passing play so majority of play will be on floor..only shooting needs more work i think, before first beta will be up for grabs

Why would i feel disrespected? rolleyes.gif Main thing here is to find the one which fits you the best..

I had one strange moment yesterday - i update my graphic drivers, and when i played next match everything looked broken - speed of match increased, keepers were idle, and there were lots of trebles during game..also, i saw 4 goals in opening 10 minutes of match, every shotz went in sad.gif

Then i replaced config with one of my previous ones, added new tweaks that i did, and in same match with same formations got 1:0 nice win with one goal from crowded area, while game looked smoother even if i didn't changed any speed parameters, it was all the same..this disturbs me, if we all can have different performance of same config then there would be no point in making patch, everyone would need to make one for themselves..i'll check out this more, maybe it was one-timer effect, i plan to upgrade my computer with more RAM soon and reinstall the system, if i get once again difference in performance of same config on two different system, i'll disband gameplay patch development..anyway, this one i mentioned with only one goal looks very promising so far, i need to test further and it could very well be ready for beta release, will keep you all informed.

I've same experience when I use a "patch" in a new game rather than in an already existing one ! dry.gif In a new game all data are put back to zero and it seems that the 3D mechanics of a new " patch " works better ! dry.gif

I notice this effect for ex with my "patch" or "beta version " ! wink.gif

Hi Guys,

I posted this back in 07, this is why different people report so many different views of the patches.
Lots of goals....no I don`t get that......Players not crossing the ball...yes they do...
goalkeeper rubbish...no he`s not...and so on, and so on.

For all the people who played the game from the past, I noticed something last night.

You rememeber the bug where the striker would suddenly appear standing next to your centre half (CD) and follow him round for about 20 seconds............well its back!!! Unbelievable!

Back to 08 for me, there is no realism in this version at all.
The brilliant `new `supporters look pathetic, the sky is blue when its raining and the players cannot play a ball into space only to the feet of other players which stops the flow.

I will try the new patches but I`m sorry I believe the hard coded changes have defeated us.
